A Blockchain is, in the simplest of terms, a time-stamped series of immutable records of data. This data is managed by different computers and not owned by any single one entity. Each of these blocks of data (i.e. block) are secured and bound to each other using cryptographic principles (i.e. chain). Once bound, they cannot be unbound nor amended. Blockchain technology is an open and shared system, and everyone on the network is accountable for their activity. This clear transparency is what provides the trust in the system.
